Our traveling service EV technicians are our heroes on the roads. They travel around The Nordics to various depots and service electric buses or other heavier electric vehicles such as EV trucks. Do you want to make a career within electric vehicles and want to know what a day in the life looks like for an EV technician?
15. I wake up at home, drink a cup of coffee, and eat breakfast.
00. I get in my service car and go to the customer’s depot to troubleshoot a bus with a fault in the driveline.
30. I'm at the depot. Say hi to the workshop manager. Tell him briefly what my plan is during the day, if I need a space in their workshop, and when I expect to be done.
00. Starts troubleshooting the bus. I troubleshoot via my computer to get an idea of what happens when the error occurs. Then I measure and check the components that touch the driveline. Checks if, for example, there is noise or metal chips in the oils.
00. Lunch.
45. I continue troubleshooting and maybe test drive the bus together with a driver from the depot to see the error. Sometimes I contact the manufacturer’s technicians to get some support and feedback.
00. I have found the cause of the error and order parts from our warehouse. Then I update the workshop manager about what I have found. I inform that the parts are ordered and when I plan to come back and replace them. Then finish off by cleaning the space I borrowed, pack my tools, and drive home.
30. Back home I sit down by the computer for a while to take care of some administrative tasks in our case system and customer reporting.
00. Shuts down the computer and end my day.
